UBC Philosophy BA ’08

Archivist/Records Analyst

UBC’s Department of Philosophy sparked in me a lifelong fascination with epistemology, such that I was immediately taken with the way archivists explore the relationship between truth and recorded information.

I think that spending four years learning to make sense of complex philosophical ideas gave me a strong sense of confidence.  This made it possible to pursue projects (particularly my master’s thesis) that were very challenging, but also very exciting.

As I tried different jobs after my philosophy degree, I learned more about myself and what I wanted to do.  My philosophy degree gave me such a strong skillset that I was able to change direction when I saw a good opportunity.
