Margaret Schabas Appointed Senior Advisor to the Provost on Academic Freedom

Congratulations to Dr. Margaret Schabas for her recent appointment as Senior Advisor to the Provost on Academic Freedom! Dr. Schabas, who has been with the Department of Philosophy since 2001 and served as Department Head from 2004-2009, will commence her new role on January 1, 2020. As Senior Advisor, she “will be responsible for working proactively with members of the university community in both Vancouver and the Okanagan, and supporting institutional efforts to ensure that academic freedom is understood, safeguarded and promoted in accordance with UBC’s 1976 Senate Statement on Academic Freedom.”
