Bio

I received a PhD in Chinese history from Harvard University in 2018 and an MA in Asian Studies from UBC in 2011. I am interested in how learning from early Chinese environmental philosophy can contribute to resolving the global environmental crisis through transformative change of both individuals and societies. Currently, my research focuses on the parallels between the text of the Huainanzi and the idea of the “Anthropocene,” the claim that the Earth now exists in a new geological epoch defined by human influence.
