The New Majors Cohort Program

About the Program

UBC Philosophy’s Majors Cohort program provides an opportunity for Philosophy majors, combined majors, honours and other Philosophy students to build relationships with fellow Philosophy undergrads; spend time reflecting on and discussing how they want to approach their philosophical education (pre- and post-graduation); and have the opportunity to talk philosophy with instructors outside of the classroom.

Who can participate?

The program is open to Philosophy students in the first or second year of their major, combined majors, or honours program. Second and third year Philosophy students who are interested in the program are also welcomed.

Schedule

Cohort participants will meet for two sessions in winter term 2 (January – April) with further opportunities for connection and discussion. Each session is 1.5 hours and facilitated by our faculty Undergraduate Engagement Officer.

How to sign-up?

Our Undergraduate Student Engagement Assistant will send out a survey in November.  In order to receive the survey, please subscribe to the department’s undergrads mailing list, OR enroll in the department’s Canvas page where you will also receive monthly newsletters on Philosophy-specific opportunities and events open to undergrads.  For details and inquiries, please contact phil.ugradengagement@ubc.ca.
